Students Design Award Winning App - bump

We are delighted to announce that WBGS students Jakub, Ayaan, Sid, Isaiah, Kanishk and Krish attended the South and West Hertfordshire Area final of the Young Enterprise awards on 10th May 2023 and won the Innovation Award for their app. bump.  The boys are a credit to the School.  Here they explain below about their journey developing the app and how it works.

We are pleased to share with you an exciting venture that we have embarked upon six months ago. We participated in the Young Enterprise Company Program Competition and established a company with the objective of creating a useful app for users. Our app, Bump, is designed to assist individuals who find themselves in a roadside accident.

We recognize that when an accident occurs, it can be challenging to remember all of the necessary details required to report the incident to insurance providers. Such details may include car information, witness statements, road names, road conditions, weather, and other critical pieces of information. To simplify this process, our app allows users to store all of their essential personal and car details in one place, easily accessible from their phones. Additionally, users can record witness statements through voice memos and upload photos of the accident to the app.

Our journey over the past six months has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. We participated in a trade fair in Harpenden in October, where we conducted extensive consumer research. We are incredibly proud to have been honoured with the Innovation Award, recognizing our dedication and hard work in creating an app that can genuinely benefit individuals in times of need.

We have developed two advertisements that showcase the functionality of our app and how it can be of assistance in a roadside accident which can be seen on our Instagram page - @app.bump.

We are thrilled to announce that after 187 days of hard work, our app is now fully developed and available for download on both Google Play and the App Store, as of this week. The app is free to download and the information is stored on your device for when it is required. Please support us and download it.
