History Society News
BackThe exciting and ever popular History Society has been taking place each Wednesday lunchtime in Room 203 and has attracted a huge amount of interest from students in Year 7 right up to Year 13.
Each week a new topic is explored, ranging from a brilliant series on North Korean leadership, to the 1990 Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm (Sam M) and even most recently a fantastic display of all the planes at a recent Duxford Airshow (Renato).
It has allowed students of all age groups and different interests to learn something new! Usually History A-Level students in the Lower Sixth organise the sessions, but in recent weeks we have seen some fantastic presentations from students lower down the school, with Muktar (Year 7) looking at lesser known history of Vinland, Raheel (Year 8) investigating the rise and fall of the Mughal Empire, George letting us explore the terrible apartheid era history of District 6 in South Africa. Coming up we have Machendranath (Year 12) taking us on a brief history of the French Revolution.
We look forward to more thrilling sessions in the coming weeks and seeing you all there!
Please email Mcdermottj@watfordboys.org if you have any ideas or would like to present!
